On view through October 2026 California Avenue Caltrain Station, Palo Alto
Whispers Through the Trees is a participatory public art installation by artist Sophia Lee, now installed among the trees at the California Avenue Caltrain Station.
Created through hands-on community workshops, the installation features soft sculptural fortune cookies made from reclaimed canvas, paint, and decorative materials. Each piece holds a hidden message contributed by a participant - kind, playful, reflective, or quietly hopeful.
Together, these community-created sculptures bring shared expressions of care and imagination into an everyday public space. Participants of all experience levels came together during public workshops to create the sculptures and the messages tucked inside them, with all materials provided.
